Moss Adams launches free online whiteboard tutorials

Moss Adams LLP has launched a series of free online whiteboard-based video tutorials to help small to mid-size business owners learn the basics of certain tax and accounting issues.

"Online learning has been a growing trend at all levels of education including professional development," said Dave Follett, the firm's chief practice officer. "Inspired by the popularity and success of short, conversational blackboard video lessons aimed at students on sites such as www.khanacademy.org, we developed these brief learning modules that can help busy business owners build their understanding of business challenges whether they're our clients or not."

Thurston B&G clubs receiving $40K from Walmart Foundation

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County will receive a $40,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation's Washington State Giving Program.

The money will allow the clubs to support their Triple Play program. which promotes healthy lifestyles by teaching members how to eat right, keep fit and form positive relationships.

State Farm expands into Lacey

State Farm opened an office today at 700 Sleater Kinney Road in Lacey.

"Some companies want to make insurance a commodity, like a pair of shoes," said owner Kevin Hayward, previously an auto claim representative in DuPont. "We try to understand our customers so we can protect what's most important to them."
