South Sound agencies receive grants

The Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) awarded road and sidewalk improvement grants to 125 local agencies totaling $104 million. The following South Sound areas received at least one grant: Pierce County, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Roy, Steilacoom, Sumner, Fircrest, Edgewood, DuPont, Bonney Lake, Yelm, Tumwater, Kent and Auburn.

Bogus "cloud service" bills prompt investigation

The Better Business Bureau of Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington, based in DuPont, reports that South Sound businesses and consumers have lodged 23 unanswered complaints in the the last two months against DNS Services in Vancouver, WA.

Point Defiance Bypass moves forward with completion of environmental study

Amtrak Cascades passengers are one step closer to more frequent and reliable rail service between Seattle and Portland. Engineers recently completed a study of proposed bypass that would reroute the service away from the congested Point Defiance train corridor along Puget Sound to a lesser-used inland route.

Quadrant Homes completes Northwest Landing in DuPont

After nearly two decades of building, Quadrant Homes has completed Northwest Landing in DuPont. Quadrant designed and built the 3,000-acre master planned community that supports nearly 4,000 multi- and single-family custom homes; the Home Course 18-hole golf course; more than 1,000 acres of parks, trails and open spaces; DuPont Station retail area; and parcels for future business park.
