EPA compliance actions in South Sound

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today more than 50 compliance and enforcement actions taken in the second quarter of 2014. And seven separate South Sound locations were cited.

Point Ruston LLC, the developer building out the former Asarco smelter Superfund site on Commencement Bay’s waterfront, has filed notices of claims totaling more than $150 million against the City of Ruston.

State $$ to Ruston path, Chehalis pool

Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma received $500,000 from the State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board. The money will help develop the missing link, a half-mile of the 7-mile trail connecting downtown Tacoma to Point Defiance Park.

Ruston updated shoreline program gains Ecology approval

The Washington Department of Ecology has approved Ruston's updated shoreline master program. Ruston's shoreline program will guide future development along approximately 1,500 feet of Commencement Bay shoreline.
