Apr 18, 2011 - 12:14 PM
Container volume at Port of Tacoma continued to improve during March, marking their sixth straight month of year-over-year growth. Year-to-date, the port's container volumes are up 9 percent.

A total of 352,190 twenty-foot equivalent units have been handled year-to-date and full export containers are up 18 percent, due largely to the strong market demand for commodities such as lumber. Full import containers are up 5 percent, breakbulk volumes are up 83 percent and auto imports up 55 percent.

Total tonnage for the port year to date is up 22 percent compared to 2010. Click here for more information.
