Sumner publishes FEIS for Northstar project
The City of Sumner has published the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Northstar Chemical Facility Project.
Northstar Chemical, Inc. is proposing development of a chemical storage and distribution facility on the northern 3 acres of a 14.96 acre industrial property in Sumner. The project would include a tank farm to store liquid, non-explosive chemicals used primarily in water treatment and cleaning. The proposal also includes development of loading and unloading facilities, an administrative building, parking, stormwater facilities and landscaping. The FEIS documents look at four alternatives: the No Action Alternative, a Proposed Development Alternative, a Reduced Scale Alternative and a Long Range Development Alternative. It also includes detailed environmental analysis of the proposed project and any adverse environmental impacts that are both probable and significant. The report then identifies measures that could be taken to mitigate those impacts.
