Port of Olympia retirement, restructuring?

Apr 24, 2017 - 03:54 PM

Jeff Smith, CPA, a long-time fiscal manager for Port of Tacoma, today announced his retirement as finance director and auditor at Port of Olympia.

He joined the Budd Bay port district in February 2012, after working at Port of Vancouver for five years and Tacoma for more than 24 years prior.

“I have accomplished what I set out to achieve with the (Olympia) Port,” Smith says in his announcement. He was a finalist in the 2016 South Sound Financial Executive of the Year.

“We have been fortunate to have Jeff’s leadership, talent and friendship at our port over the past five years,” says Ed Galligan, the port’s executive director.

Port of Olympia is contemplating a potential organizational restructuring that could involve its top financial executive. In the meantime, it issued a Request for Proposals from qualified individuals or firms with expertise in Financial Advisory Services. Those responses are due today.
