Dealerships continue to battle for buyers
"I don't care what the naysayers think. Things are getting better," said James Smith, special finance manager for Baydo Auto Center, adding that the company wants more people to start thinking about the Parkland/Spanaway area when they are looking to buy a car. "We are trying to get the word out there right now. We need to get big like Puyallup."
But can this area grow into a dealership powerhouse?
"Definitely," Smith said. "You've got to keep putting out a quality product and it will happen. It's already happening."
While some might argue that this unincorporated area of Pierce County still has a ways to go before it becomes known for new and used cars, it did recently bring in a recognizable South Sound name that could help attract more attention.
