Milgard shuts down Tacoma Tempering facility

Aug 31, 2011 - 09:10 AM
Milgard Windows & Doors has decided to discontinue operations at its Tacoma glass Tempering facility.

In a letter to customers dated today, David Nachreiner, regional general manager - PNW, said that decision was based on "the extended slowdown in the new construction and replacement window channel."
"This business decision will allow Milgard to have better asset utilization of the Tempering building as part of the window manufacturing operations," Nachreiner wrote.
"This will allow us to focus on our core business. These changes in no way reflect on the quality and dedication of our work force at Tacoma Tempering. As such, we hope to have opportunities for most of the employees at Tempering throughout the Tacoma Campus."

The letter to customers said that Milgard will not be accepting any new orders, but will fulfill existing orders within the system.
