New Sound Transportation opens new Fife headquarters

Aug 2, 2017 - 03:05 PM

Cold storage and distribution firm New Sound Transportation, LLC, has announced the opening of its new 56,000-square-foot building in Fife.

Located at 7495 26th St. E. — strategically positioned between the Ports of Tacoma and Seattle — the structure is one of the region’s largest public cold storage facilities. The energy efficient building was developed and financed by The Benaroya Company and allows NST to expand its capacity to meet customer demand.

While the building’s most prominent feature is a state-of-the-art, 20,000-square-foot freezer and chill storage facility, it also serves as the company headquarters for NST’s 100 employees. New Sound Transportation owner Valeriy Karcha said he feels “blessed to have the new facility, which will be a better environment for our employees and much more accommodating to the needs of our customers.”

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with New Sound Transportation in developing their new sophisticated cold storage facility at our Benaroya Business Park in Fife,” added Larry Benaroya, principal of the Benaroya Company. “New Sound’s continued growth has contributed to the economic vitality of Pierce County.”

New Sound Transportation was founded in Fife by Karcha and his wife Anna in 2006.  In addition to its Fife facility, New Sound has opened facilities in Delaware, Florida, Chicago and Boston, along with Northwest Truck and Trailer LLC, a full service equipment sales and repair dealership — all in the last two years.
