New state aviation director lands Aug. 7
David Fleckenstein, most recently director oft Chehalis-Centralia Airport, will join Washington State Department of Transportation on Monday as the new director of aviation in its Tumwater office.
With more than 23 years in various positions at all levels of U.S. Army Aviation, he retired from the military with the rank of colonel, last serving as director for the I Corps Aviation office at JBLM.
In his new position withs WSDOT, Fleckenstein will help implement statewide programs that protect and promote aviation, airport improvement and investments, and the development of aeronautics to support the state’s transportation system and economic vitality.
