Dec 21, 2011 - 10:40 AM
Full containerized exports through the Port of Tacoma remain strong, with year-to-date November volumes up 14 percent. However, full import containers are up only 1 percent, reflecting U.S. consumers' continued reluctance to open their wallets.Auto imports (units) are up 36 percent year to date, reflecting the continued strength of auto sales in the United States and breakbulk tonnage is up 71 percent, driven by agricultural, industrial and construction machinery exports. Log exports at the port are up 69 percent year to date.
