Today is deadline for Jan. 1 insurance

Dec 23, 2016 - 01:22 PM

The folks at Washington HealthplanFinder Exchange are reminding us that midnight tonight is “the last minute” to enroll for individual health insurance coverage that will begin on the first day of 2017.

This state’s version of an Obamacare marketplace is offering a wide variety of plans to cover individuals and families, as well as individuals with limited income who merit premium subsidies.

New this year is almost no Small Business coverage through the employer group. Only one insurance company is offering such coverage and only within Clark and Cowlitz counties. In the expiring calendar year, only one underwriter, United Health Care, provided statewide coverage and it has withdrawn from Washington state offerings for the new year.

Within the Individual market, the plans and pricing changes every year, so the exchange encourages shoppers to consider all options.  And this link might connect you with a broker or navigator to help with selection, unless they have all retired to their North Pole workshop already.
