Wells Fargo gave $3.3 million to WA nonprofits in 2017

Wells Fargo & Company has announced that, in 2017, the company donated $3.3 million to support nonprofit organizations across Washington.

That’s a number that will only increase after the company reaffirmed its previously announced 40 percent increase in corporate philanthropy for 2018, targeting $400 million. The company also has a goal of investing two percent of its after-tax profits for corporate philanthropy, beginning in 2019.

“Wells Fargo has a rich 160-year history of investing in our Washington communities,” said Northwest Senior Community Relations Manager Stephanie Wall. “We encourage every team member to serve as a leader in our communities, working hand in hand with nonprofit leaders who give their all to make Washington a better place today than it was yesterday. All of us at Wells Fargo are deeply committed to helping change lives for the better.”

Wells Fargo team members in Washington also showed their commitment by volunteering 36,000 hours with nonprofits, schools and community organizations, and by personally donating $808,000 through the company’s annual Community Support Campaign last September.

Nationally, Wells Fargo donated $286.5 million to more than 14,500 nonprofits in 2017. Team members across the company volunteered two million hours last year, including 183,528 hours of service on 3,679 nonprofit boards. Team members also contributed $85 million to 40,000 nonprofits during the company’s Community Support Campaign, leading United Way Worldwide to name Wells Fargo’s employee workplace giving campaign No. 1 in the U.S. for the ninth consecutive year.
