Jul 22, 2011 - 02:49 PM
The Port of Tacoma handled 720,178 20-foot equivalent units in June, up 2 percent year-to-date compared to 2010.

Full export container volumes remained strong - up 14 percent year-to-date - but full import containers were down 4 percent.
For June, the port's container volumes were down 11 percent, affected by the sluggish trends in the U.S. retail and housing industries.

Auto imports are up 26 percent year to date, breakbulk tonnage is up 61 percent and total tonnage is up 11 percent.
