Many more pilots needed
Boeing released its 2017 outlook for pilots and technicians today at the international gathering of general aviation, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
It projects a demand for more than 1.2 million vacancies to be filled over the next 20 years – a 3.2 percent boost in needed pilots over last year’s forecast.
Between now and 2036, the company believes the world’s commercial aviation industry will need 637,000 new commercial airline pilots, 648,000 airline maintenance technicians and 839,000 cabin crew members. Asia-Pacific companies will be needing twice as many new hires as those based in North America.
