Boeing soars at Paris show

Jun 22, 2017 - 04:58 PM

As South Sound economic development leaders and aerospace sector company representatives pack to return home today from the 2017 Paris Air Show, hometown favorite Boeing is able to claim the high ground in terms of sales results.

Commercial airline customers announced a total of 571 Boeing airplanes orders this week, valued at $74.8 billion at list prices. Global competitor Airbus announced just under $40 billion in comparable orders for a total of 326 planes.

Boeing newest model, 737 Max 10, officially launched at the international shopping bazaar and reported more than 361 orders. The company claims it will be the industry’s most efficient and profitable single-aisle airplane, when it begins delivery in a few years.

The local company also snared new orders for 777 and 787 models, each containing major components manufactured at the Boeing plant in Frederickson, Pierce County.
