Growing job categories

Compared to May of 2016, Pierce County has 3,600 more jobs in Trade, Transportation and Utilities, according to an analysis of labor statistics by Work Force Central.

Employees in Professional and Business Services show the second-largest gain year-over-year at  plus 2,300 and there were 1,500 more jobs filled in Construction that one year ago.

Educational and Health Sciences positions gained 1,100 over the 12-month measuring period. Only Manufacturing (down 400) and Natural Resources & Mining (off 200) industrial sectors recorded net losses from May 2016 to last month.
