Interim leader for state HCA

Jun 20, 2017 - 03:42 PM

A long-time manager in state government’s health care world will serve as interim director of Washington State Health Care Authority, the agency that purchases health care for more than two million residents and public employees.

Lou McDermott, director of HCA’s Public Employees Benefits divison since 2012, will take over the whole agency's direction on July 1st and serve while a national search is conducted for a permanent HCA director.

He replaces Dorothy Frost Teeter, who announced her departure from the agency in May after leading it for four years. An Olympia resident for years, McDermott also serves on the board for The Olympia Free Clinic.
