Amazon unveils mega-warehouse in Kent
Hundreds of new full-time jobs are planned for a nearly one-million square-feet Amazon fulfillment center to be constructed in Kent’s Stryker Business Park on South 212th Street.
This will be the company’s fourth such operation in Washington, joining Sumner, Bellevue and the new one nearing completion in DuPont.
“We are grateful to local and state elected officials who have supported Amazon,” said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North American operations. “We’re proud to invest further in the state with this new fulfillment center.”
At the facility, employees will pick, pack and ship small items such as books, electronics and consumer goods to customers.
“Amazon’s decision to invest in Kent is a tremendous vote of confidence in our community,” said Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke. “This announcement signifies we have the infrastructure, the workforce and the business-friendly climate needed to support a company like Amazon.”
IDS Real Estate Group and Clarion Partners are building the site as part of a joint venture.
