Mar 27, 2017 - 04:38 PM

Valley Regional Fire Authority, serving the cities of Auburn, Pacific and Algona, reports that its units were dispatched to an aid call at Metal Express, a recycling facility in Pacific, before noon today.

Crews discovered a man in his 60s, who had been blown some distance by an explosion as he worked on a vehicle. The victim was dead at the scene, though there was no visible fire or smoke from the blast.

No further details have been made available as the investigation continues, and the victim’s identity is being withheld while officials notify his family.

According to an online directory, Metal Express is a small company that has operated for more than 35 years in scrap metal recycling services.
