More folks working = more income

Mar 28, 2017 - 04:37 PM

Washington state shows up with the third-largest gain in personal incomes for 2016, after only Nevada and Utah.

Residents of the Evergreen State saw earnings grow by an average 6.3 percent from 2015 to last year, according to a report released today by federal Bureau of Economic Analysis. Nationwide, the gain was an average 3.6 percent, after a 4.5 percent bump in 2015.

Statisticians credit payroll gains in information services and in retail trade for the boost from two years ago through 2016. Fourth quarter growth in construction sector earnings was a leading contributor to overall earnings growth for the nation, assuredly in Washington state.
