South Sound has most affordable rentals
Lakewood and University Place, two suburbs of Tacoma, are ranked as the most affordable cities in the metro Seattle to find rental housing.
Auburn is a close third place in this ranking of 19 communities analyzed by Zumper Seattle Metro Report and released today. Taken all together, including Federal Way and Puyallup, Sound Sound areas fill six of the most affordable markets for rental housing.
Bellevue, Seattle and Redmond own the three most expensive markets in that order. Tacoma apartment rates placed it #11 on the list with a one-bedroom median rate of $1,080 and an annual increase of 8 percent.
One bedroom apartments in Lakewood were priced at a median of $750 during this study window, with University Place at $810 and Auburn averaging $900 being the most affordable markets. Kent had the fastest growing one-bedroom rental rate, up 12.6 percent year over year.
