Turkish Airlines orders 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners
Boeing and Turkish Airlines have completed a deal for 25 787-9 Dreamliners, with the option for five additional planes.
"This firm order adds the 787 Dreamliner, one of the world's most state-of-the-art airplanes, to our ever-expanding fleet in 2023, our Republic's 100th year,” said M. İlker Aycı, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and executive committee. “The 787 will significantly raise our passengers' satisfaction and play an important role in our plans for our new hub, the new Istanbul airport."
Turkish Airlines is now Boeing’s 71st 787 customer. Over 1,300 Dreamliners have been ordered so far, making it the company’s fastest-selling twin-aisle airplane. Over 640 of the planes are currently in operation.
The 787-9 is about 20 feet longer than its predecessor, the 787-8. The newest aircraft has a longer flight range (7,635 nautical miles) and can carry more passengers (290).
