Tacoma again a U-Haul "destination city"

May 31, 2017 - 04:45 PM

Tacoma remains a “destination city” — at least according to U-Haul’s 2016 numbers.

The City of Destiny came in 45th on the relocation company’s list of top 50 destination cities in 2016, compiled by tabulating the cities that received the most one-way U-Haul truck rentals over the course of the year.

That may not sound like much, but Tacoma rose two spots from its 2016 showing, outperforming many larger communities like Detroit, Boston, Memphis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis, just like last year.

With U-Haul migration numbers gleaned from more than 1.7 million truck rental transactions annually, the city’s appearance on the list shows an upward trend for the South Sound, considering Tacoma and Olympia were both named 2016 growth cities by the nationwide relocation giant earlier this year.
