DuPont firm sets Atlanta conference

Nov 21, 2017 - 04:34 PM

Alliance Enterprises Inc., a software developer that has been serving 40 state vocational rehabilitation agencies and 24 tribal nations in helping an estimated 1 million disable persons find and maintain meaningful work, today announced the keynote speaker for its annual “getAwareLine!” conference to convene in Atlanta next July.

Sen. Tom Harkin, co-author of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) before his 2015 retirement, will keynote the conference and announce a recipient of the excellence award recognizing outstanding service on behalf of persons with disabilities. The 1990 passage of ADA protected the civil rights of millions of Americans with physical and mental disabilities.

The unemployment rate for disabled adult Americans who want to work remains at 60 percent, a condition that Senator Harkin calls “a blot on our national character.”

"Everyone realizes Senator Harkin's legendary impact on improving opportunities for Americans with disabilities, and we're thrilled to have him speak at our conference," said Alliance Enterprises CEO Chris M. Pieper.
