New tourism website for Kent

Nov 15, 2017 - 03:46 PM

Kent has a new website, aptly named, to promote tourism to South King County's largest city.

“Kent is an unexpected and undiscovered basecamp to the greater Seattle region,” said Michelle Wilmot, City of Kent economic development project manager. “We want to tell the story of Kent and invite those who may be visiting nearby cities or Mount Rainier to stay the night, and discover our local businesses.”

The site features photography and stories to accent the city’s restaurants, attractions and sports scene. The site touts Kent’s hidden gems: local craft beer and distilled spirits, miles of scenic biking trails, kayaking adventures, downtown art galleries and global cuisine.

The mobile-responsive website features a weekly travel blog, the ability to search and submit events, and social media and TripAdvisor integration.

“Leveraging TripAdvisor to share hotel and restaurant listings and reviews creates a valuable resource for the visitor,” Wilmot said.

“Now is the time to position Kent as a unique destination with easy connections to the greater Pacific Northwest,” she added, “and we believe this website will enhance the Kent experience.”
