Wind outages reported, more expected

Early this morning, local utility providers were already working to restore electrical power to customers through the South Sound, with more trouble expected this afternoon and evening.

Mason PUD 3 had crews working to light-up 4,155 customers after heavy rain and gusty winds took down power lines. Tacoma Power (approximately 2,200 off-line) around west and south Tacoma, and Puget Sound Energy (estimated 25,367) outages reported by mid-afternoon.

National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for the whole region from Lewis County north along the I-5 corridor through Seattle from mid-day to about 9 p.m. tonight, as a storm is bringing 25-40 mph winds, gusting to 60 or 65 miles per hour. Moderately heavy snow accumulation is also forecast for the Cascade Mountains.
