Federal $$ for South Sound DV programs
Turning Point Domestic Violence Services of Shelton will receive $356,717 in a federal grant announced by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The funding is part of more than $6.2 million in federal funding to combat domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, according to U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes.
The Mason County funding will provide training for first responders, establishment of sexual assault protocols, a 24/7 DV response system, and appropriate materials to advocate for Latina victims.
Pierce County will receive $900,000 to work with local non-profits to provide services to victims of domestic violence, especially in immigrant communities.
