Northwest College of Art and Design celebrates Tacoma move

Oct 27, 2017 - 06:07 PM

Northwest College of Art and Design, which announced a move from Poulsbo to Tacoma in March, will celebrate the relocation with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

“The relocation to our new Tacoma location is designed to position our College for long-term growth, and to give our students greater access to both resources and career development opportunities,” read a message from the for-profit school touting the upcoming event. “The move to Tacoma allows the College to continue to serve the Kitsap Peninsula while effectively and dramatically expanding our footprint and reach into Pierce, Thurston, Mason, and King Counties.”

NCAD originally announced a September move after acquiring a building at 1126 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma. The purchase effectively doubled the area of the school’s previous Kitsap County campus.

The college, which had been in Poulsbo since 1982, will continue to offer a bachelor of fine arts in visual communication and has received accreditation approval to offer five new associate of occupational studies programs, all scheduled to start in Sept. 2018.
