Do Sharks like pickles?
Do Sharks like pickles? America finds out on Friday.
Lynnae Schneller and Aly Cullinane of Tacoma-based Lynnae's Gourmet Pickles will appear later this week on the season premiere of ABC reality show "Shark Tank," where entrepreneurs try to persuade a panel of "Sharks" — including, among others, business magnate and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban — to help fund their ventures.
"It's on (Friday) Sept. 20 at 9 p.m., 8 central," said Schneller with a chuckle. "Tune in to learn more."
Lynnae's has already seen its share of success since arriving on the local scene in July of 2011, but Schneller said that the company is always looking for its next big opportunity. Contractually, of course, Schneller is prohibited to divulge what happens on the air on Friday, but she did share that Lynnae's has set up an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign that launches on Friday — a step that many "Shark Tank" contestants, win or lose, make to take advantage of the show's airing.
"It's just such a great chance that we want to maximize exposure," she said.
This isn't Lynnae's Gourmet Pickles' first brush with television.
"About a year ago, we had a production company send me an email, and I almost thought it was a joke," Schneller said. "We googled them and they had a lot of reputable shows that they had produced, so we did film a sizzle reel. They're still showing it to a few networks.
"Our goal was never to be a reality show, but it's kind of hard to turn that down as a business, with the marketing and the exposure that it gives you."
