Franke Toby Jones starting project

Franke Tobey Jones seniors living complex in northwest Tacoma has begun a three-phase expansion. Existing buildings in white will be joined by a new healthcare and memory care facility, new duplex cottages and an independent living apartment structure shown in grey.
A groundbreaking ceremony this week kicks off the first phase of a major expansion for Franke Tobey Jones, a 20-acre retirement community adjacent to Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. Originally opened in 1924, three earlier major additions brought it up to its current 190 residents.
The first phase of the new construction will include a healthcare and memory care building, an independent living apartment structure and more duplex cottages, when completed by early 2019. BPCI Construction of Puyallup is building the new facilities, that were designed by LRS Architects.
When the second phase of this expansion is finished out, the community will gain another independent living apartment building with resident amenities and FTJ expects be home to more than 280 seniors.
