Accounting, IT hiring to be flat

A net 1 percent of chief financial officers in the Puget Sound expect to add accounting and finance staff during the fourth quarter of 2008, according to a recent Robert Half International Financial Hiring Index. While 7 percent of executives surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter, another 6 percent anticipate reductions in personnel. The majority of respondents, 85 percent, foresee no change in hiring.

The local results reflect a two-quarter rolling average based on interviews with 200 CFOs from a stratified random sample of companies in the area with 20 or more employees.

A net 9 percent of chief information officers in the Puget Sound meanwhile expect to hire information technology  professionals in the fourth quarter of 2008. While 11 percent of executives surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter, 2 percent anticipate reductions in personnel.
