BLOG WATCH: Bridge plan revealed

Exit 133 is reporting on the state's recently unveiled plan to rehabilitate the Murray Morgan Bridge. According to the plan, the bridge will be fixed in phases: first, WSDOT will replace lift cables at a cost of $3 million; during phase two, the center truss will be rehabilitated at a cost of $54.1 million; phase three calls for the rehabilitation of the city's approach to the bridge at a cost of $4.9 million; and phase four rehabilitates the port side bridge approach at a cost of $8.3 million.

Only half the money needed for the whole project is available, but workers are expected replace the lift cables by the end of Jne. The final stage of project won't be completed until 2013.

The Association of Washington Business blog features a posting by president Don Brunell that calls on the private sector to help lead the state back into prosperity in the wake of the sharply reduced new budget proposal from the governor.
