Employees handling recession well

A survey of more than 300 business executives that covers issues of how their employees are handling the tough economic times suggests workers are making the best of things.

When asked in the Omnia survey "What has been your staff's reaction to company economic changes?" the responses were solidly positive. A quarter of the business owners said their employees are reacting exceptionally well, while another quarter said the reaction has been better than expected. Some 37 percent said the reaction has been "not too bad," while only 8 percent said the mood has been less than positive.

"We asked this question as a follow-up to our previous survey: What has been the best 'hidden' benefit to the recent economic downturn to your business?"  Omnia CEO John B. Caswell said. "It is important that we understand what companies are doing to manage the recession and if it is working with their employees. The majority of employees, when actively partnered with a company, will respond to tough times with resolve and determination."
