Executive promotions, appointments

Tim LaPorte has accepted the position of Director of Public Works for the City of Kent. He has served as the deputy director since January 2007 and as the acting director of Public Works since October 1, when former director Larry Blanchard left the post.

LaPorte's 31-year public works career includes 21 years with Kent and 10 years in municipal consulting work.
Chad R. Wright has joined the Tacoma Community College Board of Trustees after being appointed by the governor. He is CEO of Marine View Ventures, the economic development arm of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.

Wright was appointed to a five-year term on the board. His first board meeting will be on Nov. 12. He replaces Dave Edwards, who retired from the board after serving 10 years.
