Nov. 11, 2009 at 10:38am Holiday Tree showing in CentraliaLewis County businesses and residents got their first look today at the new Celebration of Life tree at the Thrift Shop in Centralia at 222 S. Pearl Street. Visiting Nurses Foundation and Assured Home Health and Hospice originally sponsored a Hospice Tree. Over the years, it has evolved into a ceremony and event that has grown to encompass a larger audience with the emphasis on the Celebration of Life. The tree is supposed to be a celebration of life because it is decorated with ornaments sponsored by those who have lost a loved one or have a living friend or family member they would like to recognize. Each ornament includes the name of the person memorialized or honored and will be hung on the tree as sponsorship requests come in. A candlelight ceremony will be held on Dec. 20 and the tree will remain on display through Christmas. Details at the Visiting Nurses Web site.
