Local film makers release 'Dorkness'

Tacoma's film production company Dead Gentlemen Productions has released its latest film, "The Gamers: Dorkness Rising." The movie has already made a splash with niche moviegoers, following a special viewing at Comic-Con,  the national comic book convention.

This parody takes good-humored digs at the roll playing game community and is a follow up to the firm's short film "The Gamers," which became a cult classic.

"We started developing this film in 2003, and five years later, it hits the shelves," Executive Producer Don Early said. "I think the main reason it took so long is that the film outgrew and evolved from our original scope and vision."

The DVD will be sold exclusively by Paizo Publishing and is provided by the film's domestic distributor, Anthem Pictures.

"'The Gamers: Dorkness Rising' is already one of the best selling products of all time on paizo.com and it's not even released yet," said Paizo's Director of Marketing, Joshua J. Frost.
