Nominations sought for area's outstanding health workers

The Business Examiner has partnered with local agencies to recognize this year's Health Care Champions. There are countless "champions" in the thriving health care market, and the Business Examiner, in partnership with the Pierce County County Medical Society, needs help in identifying them in Pierce.

The business newspaper group has also partnered with the Thurston County Chamber and Thurston-Mason County Medical Society for a similar program in Thurston and Mason counties.
Every day heroic acts, steadfast dedication, extraordinary service and professionalism are seen frequently in our community's medical offices, clinics, hospitals, emergency services and related organizations. The Health Care Champions program has been created to recognize the dedication and professionalism of these important members of our communities.

Honorees will be named in the following categories:
  • Business Award - An individual or practice group who has implemented a program to encourage a healthy workplace for employees or improved health care for the community.
  • Community Impact Award - An individual or practice group whose involvement or innovation in health care issues has affected a broad section of the community.
  • Distinguished Service Award - An individual or practice group whose demonstrated service within the health care field has been extraordinary over an extended period of time.
  • Emergency Services Award - A medical response unit with an outstanding "save" or innovators in providing emergency care and services to the community.
  • Support Services Award - An individual or group whose extraordinary service in support of the health care field impacts the health of the community.
  • Military Services Award (New in 2009!) - An individual or practice group whose involvement or innovation in health care issues has benefited the military community.
Nominations for the 2009 Pierce County Health Care Champions are due March 27. The awards will be announced in a special publication of the Business Examiner in May.
