Promotions, hires and recognitions

Julie Anderson was sworn in today as Pierce County Auditor. She won the post earlier this month in a special election and will finish the one year left in the term started by then-Auditor Pat McCarthy, who was elected County Executive last fall. Anderson succeeds Jan Shabro, who was appointed to the post in January.

David Schaffert, president and CEO of Thurston County Chamber, is the new chairman of the board for the Washington State Chamber of Commerce Executives. He has served on that body for eight years and is in his 12th year at the helm of Olympia's largest chamber of commerce.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Southwest Washington Component recently elected Robert Lindstrom, AIA with BLRB Architects as its new president. The President Elect, Les Gerstmann, AIA, is with the same Tacoma architecture firm. Gerry Pless, AIA, with TCF Architecture will serve as treasurer and Terry Bills, AIA with Belay Architecture will be secretary for the new year.

Brenda Fritsch, in charge of cabinet sales at The Artisans Group, a design/build company in Olympia, recently became a Certified Kitchen Designer.

Gary Penley has been named director of application services at Alliance Enterprises, a software development firm located in Lacey.
