Promotions, hires and recognitions in South Sound

Joel Shabel has joined GVA Kidder Mathews' Tacoma brokerage division as an associate vice president. He previously worked for Colliers International, where he completed more than $40 million in commercial real estate transactions. Shabel specializes in office properties.

Shannon King-Wilson has joined John L. Scott Graham as managing broker. She has many years of business and real estate experience.
Tom Gorman and Ryan Clintworth have joined Prime Locations. Gorman, who spent the first 25 years of his career in Calgary, Canada, and Clintworth, who entered the commercial real estate industry during 2005 in Scottsdale, Ariz., previously worked for Colliers International.

Bates Technical College's Foundation has appointed new officers and directors. The new executive board officers are: Richard Bowe M.D., retired, chair; Rick JonesReal Estate Investment Service, vice chair; Charlie Aleshire, MultiCare, secretary; Steve Marcotte, City of Fife, treasurer; and Michael McGavock, McGranahan Architects, immediate past chair. New foundation directors are: Leann Dreier, Bates Technical College; Jim Mattheis, Lucky Eagle Casino; Mike Slevin, City of Tacoma; Bruce Stovall, Umpqua Bank; and Carrie Waffle, Good Samaritan Hospital.
