Greg Rolsma of University Place was crowned Pierce County's Biggest Winner after completing the Roman Meal Sound to Narrows 5K run. Rolsma lost 46 pounds, or 15.8 percent of his body weight, while competing for the last 14 weeks with 19 other contestants from across Pierce County. For his achievement, Rolsma won an 18-month membership to Pierce County's YMCA, three sessions with a registered dietician, and a two-night stay at the Sleeping Lady Lodge in Leavenworth. Rolsma, who works for Frontier Bank, frequently dines out and entertains and the advice from the MultiCare dietician helped him make positive choices in "real life." His wife took regular walks with him and helps with food preparation and choices at home. Coming in a close second, Scott Andrews of Tacoma lost 50.6 pounds, or  15.5 percent of his body weight. Heather Nighbor of Gig Harbor was the top female winner, losing 23.8 pounds, or 13.1 percent of her body weight. Nighbor is just 20 pounds away from her goal weight. MultiCare Center For Healthy Living, in partnership with Pierce County Gets Fit, began Pierce County's Biggest Winner program in 2007. Four teams of five Pierce County contestants were chosen to compete to lose weight over a 14-week period. Each team represents four different regions in Pierce County and includes a community leader and a business representative from their region.

Carola Stark has joined the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association as its new executive director. She is responsible for working with the board and association members on programs and strategic planning relating to historic preservation and the economic vitality of the Gig Harbor Waterfront District. Prior to joining the the association, Stark's professional experience includes working with the Port of Olympia.

Gordon Quick and his wife Juanita received the Meritorious Service Award from Rotary International representative Leigh Higenbotham of Vancouver, BC. The University Place couple was honored during a meeting of the Lakewood Rotary Club were he has been a longtime member and past president. Their trips around the world as Rotary volunteers, primarily teaching teachers.Their journeys have taken them to Thailand, Russia, Fiji, Mexico, Jamaica and Latvia; several times to Thailand and Russia. Spending at least three months on each of their teaching trips, the Quicks
were able to not only help teachers gain valuable background information and training but also to change their opinions of America and Americans.

Andy Dinh has been named manager for Wells Fargo's Lacey banking branch. Dinh leads a 15-member team  and most recently worked as store manager in Seattle. 

Pierce Commercial Bank of Tacoma has announced the arrival of Rick Price as senior loan officer to its expanding residential lending team.  Price has more than 20 years of experience in the financial and mortgage lending industry. The bank also has hired Tammy Craft  as a senior loan officer. She has more than 10 years of experience with businesses and consumers in Tacoma in various sales, management, and mortgage capacities.
