Tacoma City Manager Eric Anderson announced that Michelle Lewis-Hodges will be the new director of the Information Technology Department. Lewis-Hodges was appointed the acting interim IT director, overseeing three divisions within the department, following the appointment of Rey Arellano as deputy city manager in May. She has worked for the city's IT department in various capacities since 1999, most recently as the assistant director and the information systems operations manager.
Warrick Holfeld has recently been hired as a staff accountant for Brantley Janson Yost & Ellison Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors in Federal Way. The firm also hired Jamie Miller as a staff accountant.
SiteCrafting has announced the addition of Kirk Solar to its Web development team. As a web application developer, Solar's responsibilities include site development, as well as support for site design and maintenance. Solar is a recent graduate of Clover Park Technical College, where he studied Web design and open source development as well as media and graphic design.
CBRE Puget Sound Brokerage Group is pleased to welcome Dave Douglas, first vice president, and Dave Goodsell, associate. Douglas and Goodsell will be covering primarily industrial properties in the South Puget Sound region. Both come from local competitor GVA Kidder Mathews.
Chris Nye, founder and president of MLS4owners.com, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors.
Susan Bartels has announced the opening of her certified public accounting practice, Susan A. Bartels CPA, PS, located at 315 39th Ave. SE in Puyallup. The practice provides financial statement and tax return preparation as well as business consulting. Bartels has nearly 30 years of public accounting experience.
Sticks & Stones Custom Cabinetry has opened a new showroom in Lakewood. The company opened earlier this year with owners Mike Bradshaw and Teresa Keich.
MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital is pleased to announce that the Good Samaritan Sleep Center recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. MultiCare Health System offers sleep medicine services in Puyallup and now South Hill, as well as Covington, Gig Harbor and Tacoma. The South Hill clinic is the most recent addition to MultiCare's sleep medicine locations.
United Way of Pierce County has been awarded Charity Navigator's highest rating: four stars. This is the non-profit's fourth consecutive year of a four-star rating. According to Charity Navigator, only 6 percent of the thousands of charities they rate have achieved that standard for the past four consecutive years. Of the 1,400 United Way organizations spread throughout the nation, United Way of Pierce County is one of the highest-rated United Ways of its size. Only four other United Ways have achieved four consecutive years of four-star ratings. Those United Ways are: United Way of Central Alabama; United Way of Central Iowa; United Way of Central New Mexico; and United Way of Greater Milwaukee.
