Pierce politico to lead SBA

U.S. Small Business Administration today announced the appointment of Calvin Goings, as the regional administrator in Region X, to oversee the SBA's programs and services in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.

"I am honored to be joining the Obama Administration and implementing the President's plan for supporting and revitalizing our nation's small businesses," said Goings, a past two term Pierce County Council member, state senator and unsuccessful candidate for County Executive.
"Both the SBA and small businesses of the Pacific Northwest will benefit greatly from (Goings') career in public service and commitment to community development," said SBA Administrator Karen Mills in welcoming Goings.

He is currently serving as the senior adviser to the president at the Washington Credit Union League. A Pierce County resident, Goings and his wife, Amy, a vice president at Clover Park Technical College, have one son.
