Pierce's Health Care Champions named

The Business Examiner is proud to announce Pierce County's 2008 Health Care Champions. Produced in partnership with Pierce County Medical Society, the inaugural Pierce County Health Care Champions program recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations within Pierce County's health care community. 

This year's honorees include:

Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Services will receive the Community Impact Award, for involvement or innovation in health care issues that has affected a broad portion of the community.
 
Dr. Robert A. Yancey, Gig Harbor Orthopedics will receive the Distinguished Service Award, given for extraordinary and long-term service within the healthcare field.

Lorie Folven, Good Samaritan Behavioral Health will receive the Support Services Award, celebrating the extraordinary impacts of a support person or group within healthcare field.

MultiCare Center For Healthy Living will receive the Business Award, presented to an individual or practice group that has worked to create a healthy workplace for employees.

Tacoma Trauma Trust will receive the Emergency Services Award, given to medical response unit with an outstanding save, or to innovators in providing emergency care and services to the community.

Every day heroic acts, dedication, extraordinary service and professionalism are seen frequently in the community's medical offices, clinics, hospitals, emergency services and related organizations. The Health Care Champions program was created to recognize the dedication and professionalism of these important community members.

Produced with the support of prime sponsor Northwest Physicians Network, with additional support from Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, Franciscan Health System, MultiCare Medical Group, Versoria, Medical Imaging Northwest, and Moss Adams LLP, Health Care Champions will culminate at an awards ceremony, June 11, 6 p.m. at the Museum of Glass. Tickets are on sale now for $45, per person. The June 9 issue of the Business Examiner will include a special supplement highlighting each of these outstanding award winners.

The honorees of the Thurston County Health Care Champions will be announced tomorrow.
