Providence St. Peter Hospital receives energy efficiency grant

Providence St. Peter Hospital has received a $458,343 energy efficiency grant from Puget Sound Energy to recycle its boiler heat, reducing the hot air released into the atmosphere by 250 degrees.

The new design captures the waste heat that vents from the boiler stack and uses it to heat the hospital and provide hot water, saving $60,000 annually in natural gas costs.
During the past 10 years, PSE has awarded nearly $2 million in energy efficiency grants to support the hospital's conservation projects. Combined, St. Peter Hospital's environmentally responsible practices save the hospital an estimated $700,000 annually.

Founded in 1887, Providence St. Peter Hospital is a 390-bed, Magnet designated nonprofit hospital that provides medical, surgical and behavioral health services to the South Puget Sound region.
