Economic Development Council of Mason County’s monthly luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at City of Shelton’s Civic Center. The keynote speaker will be Joe Robertson with Our Community Credit Union. The cost $10 per person (360) 426.2276.

Glacier Northwest will be hosting a public meeting on the permit  the company is requesting to expand the gravel mine operations by 177 acres at its facility in DuPont. The proposed mining project will expose an underlying aquifer and the water from it will be directed into the lower Sequalitchew Creek through a man made channel cut through the canyon wall. The surrounding groundwater levels will significantly be lowered around DuPont. The meeting will be held at tomorrow at 7 p.m. at DuPont City Hall.

Port of Tacoma will host and be principal sponsor of the second annual Northwest Intermodal Conference, to be held May 19 and 20 at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center.

The conference will bring industry experts from across North America in the fields of trade, research, economics, academia and transportation logistics to discuss intermodal business in the Pacific Northwest.
