State disciplines health care providers

The Washington State Department of Health has taken disciplinary actions against health care providers in the South Sound.

In Pierce County, the Nursing Commission charged registered nurse Sharleen A. Conner with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly stole about 27 tablets of oxycodone from a person whom she was visiting and ingested some of the pills. She also allegedly failed to respond to department inquiries regarding the incident. The commission also charged licensed practical nurse Alice N. Currie with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly failed to comply with previous terms and conditions set against her license. The Nursing Assistant Program denied the application of nursing assistant applicant Raksa Son. He was convicted of assault, domestic violence and two counts of protection order violation. Son failed to respond to department inquiries regarding the convictions. He cannot reapply for five years.

In Thurston County, the Nursing Assistant Program charged nursing assistant applicant Bobbi R. Calley with unprofessional conduct. She was convicted of destruction of property, soliciting prostitution, criminal trespass, and obstructing a public servant. She allegedly failed to disclose the convictions on her application. The Registered Counselor Program has denied the application of registered counselor applicant Stephen E. Rhodes. He was convicted of assault and possession of methamphetamine. He cannot reapply for five years after his last conviction, which took place in August 2004.
