The 11 members of Washington state's Electoral College will gather in Olympia on Dec. 15 to cast their votes for Barack Obama and Joseph Biden.
The state's electors will vote at noon in the State Reception Room of the Legislative Building. Secretary of State Sam Reed will convene the gathering and the electors' chair will preside over the balloting.
"The upcoming Electoral College vote is a major step in how our nation chooses its president," Reed said. "Voters in Washington and throughout America had their voices heard on Nov. 4, and the members of our state's Electoral College will cast their votes for president and vice president based on the majority of Washington voters."
Each state has a number of electors equal to the number of senators and representatives it has in the U.S. Congress. Of Washington's 11 presidential electors, one is from each of the state's nine congressional districts. Those nine were selected at congressional district caucuses last May. The two at-large electors were chosen at the state Democratic Party convention in Spokane last June.
The 11 electors submitted by the state Democratic Party are:
1st District: Jafar Siddiqui of Lynnwood;
2nd District: Maggie Hanson of Bellingham;
3rd District: Jane Buchanan-Banks of Vancouver;
4th District: Pat Notter of Wenatchee;
5th District: Marcus Riccelli of Spokane;
6th District: Bradford Donovan of Montesano;
7th District: Lesley Ahmed of Seattle;
8th District: Di Irons of Fall City;
9th District: Calvin Edwards of Spanaway; and
At-large electors Kristine Fallstone of DuPont and John Daniels of Seattle.
