UPS honored for neighborhood alliances

University of Puget Sound has received the 2010 Community Partnership Award from the Cross District Association of Tacoma for its work in partnership with small businesses and the contributions of students, faculty and staff to the local community.

UPS was recognized for its mutually beneficial working relationships with the Proctor and Sixth Avenue districts, for hosting the CDA's annual fundraising events and for its support in providing facilities for CDA executive committee meetings.
Students from the campus regularly volunteer for events that the districts host each year and UPS faculty and staff are also active locally.

The CDA's 15 districts represent Tacoma's formal small business communities.
