Wilson wins community achievement award

Valley Cities Counseling & Consultation has recognized Federal Way City Manager/Police Chief Brian Wilson with its 2010 Community Achievement Award for Collaboration.

Valley Cities is a community behavioral health center with outpatient clinics in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent and Renton. Wilson is chair of the organization's board this year and has served on the board since 2001.
Wilson has teamed with Federal Way Youth and Family Services and Valley Cities since 1997, helping them forge partnerships with public schools, the boys and girls/EX3 Clubs, the Multi-Service Center and other neighborhood programs.

He is a founding member of the Federal Way Police Department, coming on board as deputy chief of police in 1996. In May 2009, he was appointed interim city manager of Federal Way, temporarily stepping down as police chief to take the role. In January 2010, he was sworn in as city manager/police chief until the newly elected mayor takes office, most likely in December 2010. Wilson oversees about 350 employees and a $43 million General Fund budget.
